My citrus celebration mood board for Alfalfa House
The community food store Alfalfa House in Newtown, Sydney is a not-for-profit cooperative. Alfalfa House aims to support local businesses and artisan products, provide ethically made and organic goods, be environmentally friendly and maintain a safe space for their members, volunteers and wider community. As part of the Visual Merchandising curriculum, Sydney TAFE Visual Merchandising students reached out to Alfalfa House to pitch, discuss and implement a VM concept to be installed in November 2020 until February 2021. The concept for Alfalfa House marks the beginning of summertime and celebrates the community. To maintain the ethos of sustainability and minimal waste, over 200 lemons, limes and oranges were dehydrated and transformed into garlands, buntings and take home gifts for customers. The natural beauty of these biodegradable materials brightened the store with vibrant and warm tones. The addition of the vinyl lettering and the citrus graphic decals were designed by myself to verbalise the theme of the project and reference the Alfalfa House brand values.
